2021- Ford Mustang Mach-E 19" OEM Tire Replacement Guide

The 19” wheel is the most common equipment on the Ford Mustang Mach-E. It was standard on the Premium, First Edition, Ice White Edition, and Rally trims and available as an upgrade on the Select. The tires are competent grand touring all-seasons in 225/55R19 on most trims, and 235/55R19 on the Rally. When those stock tires wear out there are better options available — often for less. OEM Wheel and Tire Specs

The standard 19” wheel is a 19x7” aluminum wheel with a +47.5mm offset and 5×108 bolt pattern. It was standard on the Select (with the Comfort & Appearance Package), Premium, First Edition, and Ice White Edition trims. All shipped with a 225/55R19 tire. The OEM tire was the Michelin Primacy A/S at 103H XL, a grand touring all-season.

The 2024+ Rally uses a wider 19x8” wheel at the same +47.5mm offset and 5×108 bolt pattern, also available through the Ford Performance catalog. Ford fitted the Rally with the 235/55R19 Michelin CrossClimate 2, an all-weather grand touring tire with a 3-Peak Mountain Snowflake rating, appropriate for the Rally’s adventure-ready character. This guide covers replacement options for both tire sizes.

Before You Buy

Load index. The Mach-E weighs between 4,394 and 4,920 lbs depending on trim and battery configuration, making the correct tire essential for handling the vehicle’s weight. Match or exceed a 103 load index with an XL-rated tire on all four corners. Standard load, or SL, tires are not appropriate for the Mach-E.

EV-specific tires. You do not need a tire marketed specifically for EVs to replace the stock tires. EV-designated tires prioritize rolling resistance and load handling, which are already addressed by selecting an appropriately rated tire. Choose the tire based on performance characteristics you actually want, not the marketing name.

TPMS. The Mach-E uses direct TPMS with 433 MHz sensors mounted in each wheel’s valve stem. During a standard tire swap the sensors stay in the wheel. Do not pay for new sensors on a routine replacement. A valve stem seal inspection is normal and worth doing. After the swap, the system reads pressures automatically on the next drive and no manual calibration step is required.

Tire size. The OEM sizes are 225/55R19 and 235/55R19. Given it was OEM on the Rally trim, the 235 treadwidth tire is a clean and easy upgrade on factory-equipped 225 treadwidth vehicles. 245/50R19 is also a popular upgrade, included in our recommendations. AWD tire replacement. Ford’s AWD system does not tolerate significant tread depth mismatch between axles. On AWD-equipped Mach-Es, if the difference between front and rear tread depth exceeds 2/32”, replace all four tires together. If replacing in pairs, always put the newer tires on the rear axle. Rotate every 5,000–7,500 miles to keep wear even.

Grand Touring All-Season

The Michelin Primacy A/S and CrossClimate 2 fall in the Grand Touring All-Season category, and that is the typical replacement for owners who want equivalent or better capability. Grand Touring All-Seasons are comfortable, quiet, long-wearing, and capable of handling rain and light snow without seasonal swaps.

The Michelin CrossClimate 2 and Continental SecureContact AW are worth considering for buyers who see more than occasional snow, as both carry the 3-Peak Mountain Snowflake rating that the Primacy A/S does not. Vredestein’s tires consistently test well against higher-priced competition at noticeably lower prices and are worth a look if budget matters.

Ultra High Performance All-Season

If you want a sharper tire without giving up year-round usability, Ultra High Performance All-Season tires deliver better cornering response and wet grip than grand touring all-season tires. The Mach-E’s instant torque responds well to a firmer, more performance-oriented compound. These tires can handle light snow to boot.

Summer Performance

For owners in mild climates who want the full capability the Mach-E’s platform offers, or who run a dedicated winter set, summer tires are the ticket. Dry and wet grip improve meaningfully over any all-season. Expect higher road noise and a compound that loses grip below 40°F.

Winter

If you live somewhere with serious winter, a dedicated seasonal swap is the correct answer. The stopping distance difference between a dedicated winter tire and an all-season on ice is significant. Running a second set of steel or alloy wheels with winters mounted is typically cheaper over time than paying a shop to dismount and remount tires on your stock wheels every season. 225/55R19 is the preferred winter size while 235/50R19 is a popular alternative. Performance Winter and Snow

Performance winter tires were developed for European highway conditions where high-speed capability must coexist with snow traction. They carry a 3PMSF rating and are fully winter-capable, but prioritize dry and wet handling over maximum ice grip. These are the right choice for owners who cover highway miles through winter and want confident winter grip without giving up everything else.

Studless Ice and Snow

Studless ice and snow tires deliver maximum winter grip using advanced siping and tread compounds that remain pliable in extreme cold. They excel in severe conditions — ice, packed snow, slush — but trade away dry-road handling and tread life. Best suited for regions with long, harsh winters where maximum winter grip outweighs other concerns.

Mounting and Installation

A few reminders specific to the Mach-E:

  • TPMS sensors stay in the wheel. Do not pay for new sensors on a standard tire swap. A valve stem seal inspection is normal and worth doing.
  • Lug nut torque spec: 150 lb-ft. Confirm your installer knows the torque spec and has a properly calibrated torque wrench.
  • AWD tread depth tolerance. On AWD variants, replace all four if tread depth differs more than 2/32” between front and rear.
  • New tires go on the rear. When replacing in pairs, always put the newer tires on the rear axle regardless of which axle wore first.
