The 19” Nova is an optional upgrade wheel on the 2024+ Tesla Model 3, available on both RWD and Long Range AWD trims. Nova wheels have come wrapped in various 235/40R19 tires. For 18” OE wheels see the 18” guide. For 20” OE wheels on the Performance trim see the 20” guide. For the 2017–2023 Model 3 19” guide see the Gen 1 19” guide.

OEM Wheel and Tire Specs

The 19” Nova is a factory upgrade option or available dealer accessory on the Model 3. It is a 19×8.5” wheel with a +38mm offset, 5×114.3 bolt pattern, and 64.1mm centerbore. Over the Highland production run, this wheel has been fitted with tires across multiple performance categories depending on supply chain, locale, and whether or not the Nova wheels were ordered during purchase of the vehicle.

The T0 and T1 markings indicate Tesla has tested and approved the tire for noise, ride, and range to Tesla’s standards and that the manufacturer paid for that certification. You do not need a T0 or T1 tire to replace your existing tires.

Before You Buy

Tire size. The OEM size is 235/40R19. Owners who prioritize grip or wheel protection can move up to 245/40R19 which is 10mm wider and a better fill on the 8.5” Nova wheel, with a slightly larger contact patch. This is within ±3% of the OEM overall diameter and is a safe fitment for the car. For other compatible sizes see the 235/40R19 tire table.

Load index. Use XL-rated tires with at least a 96 load index. The OEM spec across all factory tire options is 96 XL. All tires in this guide are XL-rated.

Acoustic foam liner. All three OEM tires include foam inner liners. The 40-series aspect ratio of the 235/40R19 leaves less sidewall to absorb road imperfections compared to the taller 45-series on the 18” Photon, making the foam liner more meaningful on the Nova. Look for tires labeled “Acoustic” (Michelin), “ContiSilent” (Continental), “PNCS” (Pirelli), or “SoundComfort” (Goodyear) if road noise is a priority. Foam inner liners complicate plug-and-patch repairs and most shops will decline this work. Many owners specifically choose tires without foam when replacing the OE tires and observe minimal increases in road noise without the liner.

Summer vs. all-season. The 19” Nova has shipped with both summer (Hankook Ventus S1 evo3) and all-season (Goodyear Eagle Sport AS, Continental ProContact RX) tires from Tesla. If your car has summer tires and you live somewhere with real winter, replacing them with an all-season or running a dedicated winter setup is the right move. For more on tire performance categories, see our reference guide.

TPMS. The Model 3 uses direct TPMS with sensors integrated into the valve stem assembly. During a tire swap the valve stem and sensor stay in the wheel — the installer demounts the old tire, mounts the new one, and the sensor is never disturbed. You should not be charged for a new sensor on a standard replacement. A valve stem seal inspection or replacement is normal and inexpensive. After the swap, recalibrate via Controls > Service > TPMS Calibration on the touchscreen.

Spare tire and toolkit. The Model 3 includes a sealant and compressor kit but no full-size spare. Tesla 24/7 roadside assistance is available through the app.

AWD tread depth tolerance. AWD owners replacing tires in pairs rather than all four should put the tires with the most remaining tread on the rear axle. A tread depth difference greater than 2/32” between axles should prompt a full four-tire replacement.

Grand Touring All-Season

The Continental ProContact RX is the baseline tire for the 19” option. It is a comfort-focused grand touring tire for owners who want quiet, long-wearing all-season performance. It is a solid daily-driver choice for any Model 3 owner prioritizing comfort and longevity over handling sharpness.

Michelin’s CrossClimate 2 is the pick for owners who see more winter precipitation and want a 3PMSF-rated tire that handles mixed conditions confidently. The Vredestein Quatrac Pro+ consistently tests well against higher-priced competition at a notable discount.

Ultra High Performance All-Season

The Goodyear Eagle Sport All-Season balances handling sharpness with year-round usability at a meaningful step up in grip from the grand touring category. UHPAS tires sharpen the Model 3 without locking you out of capable wet weather performance and the ability to handle light snow.

The Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus in 245/40R19 earns our recommendation for the Model 3.

Summer Performance

For owners in warm climates who want to realize the full performance capability of their Model 3 platform, or for those with a dedicated winter wheel set, summer tires deliver meaningfully better dry and wet grip, sharper turn-in, and shorter braking distances than any all-season can. These are warm-weather-only tires. Summer compounds lose grip below 40°F and become a liability below freezing on snow and ice.

The Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 fitted on the factory Summer Tire and Wheel package is an Ultra High Performance Summer tire, a category tier lower than what we would recommend if moving to summers as there are far better performers than the OE-spec Hankook. Choose an Extreme Performance Summer tire if you expect to autocross or see track time, a Max Performance Summer tire if you do not, and an Ultra High Performance All-Season instead of the UHP Summer if you still want a great all arounder. This is a crowded segment with many more choices than listed above. Visit TireRack to find full availability in 235/40R19 or 245/40R19 sizing.

Winter

If you live somewhere with real winter, a dedicated seasonal swap outperforms any all-season or summer tire. The stopping distance difference between a dedicated winter tire and an all-season on ice is significant. Running a second set of wheels with winters mounted and swapping twice a year is typically more economical than paying a shop to dismount and remount tires each season.

Tesla offers a winter wheel and tire package on the 18” Photon wheel wrapped in Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3 with T0 Tesla designation and PNCS acoustic foam. Visit TireRack for a larger variety of winter wheel and tire package options configured for your Model 3.

Note, a narrower 225/45R19 is a popular winter size. The taller sidewall provides more snow penetration and cushion over rough winter surfaces, and the slightly narrower contact patch cuts through snow more effectively. See all compatible tire sizes within ±3% of the OEM overall diameter at our 235/40R19 tire table.

Performance Winter and Snow

Performance winter tires deliver 3-Peak Mountain Snowflake-rated capability while retaining meaningful dry and wet handling for drivers who cover highway miles in winter conditions. The Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3 with T0 Tesla designation and PNCS acoustic foam is the OEM winter option from Tesla, one of the few winter tires that contains a foam liner.

Studless Ice and Snow

Studless ice and snow tires prioritize maximum traction in severe winter conditions — ice, packed snow, and extreme cold — over dry-road performance and tread life. Best suited for owners in regions with long, harsh winters where maximum winter grip outweighs all other considerations.

Mounting and Installation

A few reminders specific to the Model 3:

  • TPMS sensors stay in the wheel. Do not pay for new sensors on a standard tire swap. A valve stem seal check is normal; a replacement sensor unit is not necessary unless your existing sensor has failed.
  • Recalibrate TPMS after the swap via the touchscreen: Controls > Service > TPMS Calibration.
  • Lug nut torque spec: 129 lb-ft. Confirm your installer uses this spec with a properly calibrated torque wrench.
  • Tire mobility kit included. The Model 3 ships with a sealant and compressor kit — no full-size spare. Tesla roadside assistance is available 24/7 through the app.
  • AWD tread depth tolerance. AWD owners replacing in pairs should put the tires with the most remaining tread on the rear axle. Replace all four if the tread depth difference between axles exceeds 2/32”.
  • New tires go on the rear. When replacing in pairs, always put the newer tires on the rear axle regardless of which axle wore faster.
